I was lost. I just finished my first year in college because my parents were paying for it and that's what you do, right? Well, unless you want to be a total loser. I mean, he's sitting there in this expensive suit, looking like James Bond, or something. I mean, seriously? Nothing like being discreet. I get a coffee and go sit at his table. He doesn't introduce himself but he slides an expensive business card across the table and starts to talk. He's a representative of an international business network called the Cabal and they could use an intelligent good looking open-minded young man like myself. I'm not a fool, I was like, do you work for the mafia...or the CIA? He said 'Think of us as an NGO, non-governmental organization. Closer to the mafia than the CIA.' Then he told me that I wouldn't be asked to do anything illegal. They make sure their young men aren't exposed to that. But I asked if that wasn't what the game was. He said it was complicated. They have legitimate business interests but international legal regulations are complicated and sometimes it's just easier to ignore them to get stuff done. He said I would be a courier, message runner, and assistant. Sometimes I would need to help a transaction along by providing sexual favors to powerful men who enjoy the company of handsome young guys like myself. In return I would be paid very well, live a very comfortable life, travel the world, and meet very powerful men. There might even be the possibility for future advancement if I worked out well. I almost spit out my coffee. After he describes a job somewhere between being a gigolo and a secret agent, he says I might have a future with the company like I'm working my way up the ladder from Admin Assistant to Corporate Exec. WTF? Then he says, 'We know your life is going nowhere, we know you've been thinking about sex work, and we know you watch porn with twinks like you having sex with older men.You don't have anything to lose. You have a week to think about it. Be here, with your suitcase, next Saturday, Don't be late. I'll wait ten minutes and the offer is gone. Pack light. We'll supply everything you need. Then he got up and walked out the door. I watched as a large black car with tinted windows pulled up in front of him just as he stepped off the curb and he was gone. Damned if he wasn't right, though. About all of it. I went home and told my folks that I had joined the peace corp and I was taking a year to go find myself. My mom burst into tears and said she would miss me but she was so proud of me. If only she knew the truth. My dad was less thrilled but he said he didn't think it was a bad idea. He said he could tell I was drifting and to just be sure I didn't use it as an excuse not to figure my life out. Things moved fast after that. I showed up at the mall. We walked out the door together this time and the car pulled up to the curb for both of us. We drove straight to the airport. He pulled a passport and a ticket out of his jacket pocket and told me I was taking off in an hour. Next thing I know I'm walking into a building that's a cross between a five star luxury hotel and a student hostel. I'm met by a man who rushes me straight up to the suite. He tells me to get some sleep and someone will come for me. As he leaves, a cold chill goes up my spine as I hear the lock click. I don't need to check to see if it will open. I was , though, and nerves weren't enough to keep from passing out. I didn't even need the pill in a dish on my bedside table. The next morning, there was a knock on my door. A young guy introduced himself as Milo. He asked what I wanted for breakfast and told me to go shower and he would order. Later one of those creepy cars pulled up to the curb outside the building. He explained that this place was where the guys lived and, if things went well, I would meet them later. First I had to meet Mr. Nik. If he liked me I was in, if not, I was on a plane back to the states. I asked Milo how to make Mr. Nik like me. He just said, 'Do everything he says. Everything. And don't hesitate and don't ask questions. This job is about obedience. Obey and life can be better than you can imagine. Any other alternative is not an option.' We arrived at an incredible building. One of those two hundred year old palace kind of mansions that people in Europe act like are just ordinary. Mr. Nik was like a mafia character out of an American action movie. There was nothing funny about him, though. He radiated power. He was comfortably dangerous like a panther that can be docile because it knows that it could rip your throat out at any second. He took us into this incredibly well furnished room. Nicer than any room I've ever seen and I didn't think he was actually that important. He made us strip and bend over a table. Suddenly his face was pressing into my ass. His beard was soft and prickly at the same time and I realized that I'd never had sex with a man with a beard before.
